Manage available assets in a vault

Available for all io.vault subscriptions.

When a new vault is created, only the following assets are included by default:

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Binance Smart Chain
  • Polygon
  • Tether USD
  • USD Coin

However, io.vault also supports all ERC-20 assets as well as other networks. io.vault will automatically detect the deposit of any new ERC-20 token to a vault and display it on the dashboard. Additionally, assets can be manually added or hidden from the vault dashboard using the following process.

Add an asset

Option 1

  1. On the web dashboard, go to the "Vaults" section located on the left-hand side. Then, choose the specific vault for which you wish to add or deactivate an asset by clicking on it
  2. On the Assets page, click on the "+Manage assets" button to show or hide assets from your vault as needed
  3. To Show an asset use the search bar to locate a specific asset by:
    1. Entering the name of the asset, or
    2. Providing the contract address of the asset
  4. Once found, select the asset to show it in your vault. The asset will be displayed in the visible list within your vault

Option 2 (if you have received a transfer for the asset)

  1. On the web dashboard, go to the "Vaults" section located on the left-hand side
  2. In the “Recent Activity” section, located on the right-hand side, click on the relevant incoming transfer to view its details
  3. On the transfer details page, you'll see an “+Add to [Vault Name]” button. Click this button to add the received asset to your vault's asset list

Warning: ensure that you have added the correct asset before using it. Many random coins with similar names might be selected by mistake. Double-check to avoid any errors

Hide an asset

  1. On the Assets page, locate the asset you wish to hide and Click on the “Hide” button located next the specific asset
  2. The asset will be removed from the visible list in your vault but can be re-added later using the “Manage Assets feature.

Important Notice: Spam Tokens/Transfer May Appear in Your Vault

If you notice unfamiliar or suspicious tokens showing up in your vault’s asset management, these are often the result of unsolicited transfers — typically triggered when your vault becomes active on-chain (e.g., after sending or receiving a transaction). Bots scan public activity and may send spam tokens to visible addresses.

Receiving these tokens is a common occurrence on public blockchains, similar to getting spam emails. It does not mean your wallet has been compromised, but the tokens can pose risks if interacted with.

Best practices:

• Do not approve, swap, or transfer unknown tokens.

• Avoid clicking any links or QR codes tied to them.

• Ignore token names or metadata trying to get your attention.
